The monthly meets tend to be bigger than the other ad hoc meetings that take place at other times, and we make sure that they're in easy to get to locations and the pub serves food (meaning that people can eat in the bar if they want to). They normally start around 6.30pm (or whenever people get there after work) and a group tends to be left come closing time. This time we're returning to another of our favourite pubs, The Edgar Wallace, just of Strand, close to Aldwych. They serve tasty real ales, ciders and foods. More information (including an up-to-date list of what beers are on) is available here: http://edgarwallacepub.com/ http://london.randomness.org.uk/wiki.cgi?Edgar_Wallace,_WC2R_3JF This time they're not letting us have the entire upper room (without a minimum spend and a deposit, like they require of "normal" people), but they'll reserve tables for about 10 from 18:00 onwards. Therefore I suggest that any early birds grab NON-reserved tables upstairs, to make sure we have enough room for the latecomers. If enough people show up early we might also be able to convince them to giving us the entire upstairs next time. So far we have only one organised. I sent the first announcement to the normal list, and had only a few responses. Please mail the gllug at gllug.org.uk list and mention that you plan on attending. See : http://lists.gllug.org.uk/pipermail/gllug/2010-February/082543.html Ciarán ps. If you want to give a talk next month *please* email me or the list to offer yourself (in a non-slave, creepy way). The original message: =========================================== Morning, There will be a talk for the GLLUG by Richard Jones on libguestfs[1] on Thursday 18th March at 1930. It will be held at the Cavandish campus of the University of Westminster[2], in the Large Lecture Theatre. I will try and get a more accurate description of the lecture theatre's location and post it to the mailing list and website If people could arrive at 1900 to make sure we are ready to begin at 1930. After the talk I suggest we go to a decent local pub for a social. Could you please add you name to the attendees list to give Sean Tohill an idea of the numbers we should be expecting. Attending --------------- Ciarán Mooney Regards, Ciarán ps. We still require a talk for a meeting next month, 15th April. Please email the list or me with your suggestion. pps. This email was sent to the Announce list yesterday morning, but is still waiting approval.
