We're going to the King and Queen, a pub with delicious real ale in Fitzrovia[2]. We have the upstairs room from 6:00pm. The nearest tube is Goodge St. on the Northern Line, but it's a short walk from: * Oxford Circus on the central, bakerloo and victoria lines, * Great Portland St. on the everything-else line[3] * Warren street, Euston Square, Tottenham Court Road, Regents Park on lines overlapping with the above. On buses I found the 7, 8, 10, 14, 18, 24, 25, 27, 29, 30, 55, 73, 88, 98, 134, 205, 390, 453, C2. At this point I think listing any more[4] is a daft idea. Needless to say it's not short of bus links. Anything going up Oxford street or TCR will be fine. Drinks: - Tasty real ale - Usual gas tap lagers etc. - Large spirit shelf with some lovely malts and a refreshingly large selection of Irish Whiskey as well. Maps, more info, etc: http://london.randomness.org.uk/wiki.cgi?King_And_Queen,_W1W_6DL Please note that there is no upstairs bar; people doing the kitty run will have to go downstairs for drinks. Please also note that they don't do food but the landlord is happy for you to bring some (or even order a takeaway). It's in the heart of student town (UCL)[5], eating is not a problem. Standard blurb: Social meets are a chance for the various members of the group to meet up face to face and chat with each other about things - both Perl and non-Perl - and newcomers are more than welcome. The monthly meets tend to be bigger than the other ad hoc meetings that take place at other times, and we make sure that they're in easy to get to locations and the pub serves food (meaning that people can eat in the bar if they want to). They normally start around 6.30pm (or whenever people get there after work) and a group tends to be left come closing time. If you're a newcomer or other first timer (even if you've been lurking on the mailing list or on IRC) then please seek Leon out - we have a tradition that the leader of this motley crew buys the new people a drink (orange or not, either's fine) and introduces them to people. --James [1] Kake is very busy this month and I was asked to organise the social. [2] Or 'Noho' if you want it to rhyme with Soho. [3] Or 'neapolitan' if you prefer. The circle/hammersmith and city/metropolitan combination. [4] Or even that many. Does anybody actually find all this bus information useful? [5] I've never bumped into a student in the pub, however.
