Hi,
Well I'm back at my desk and I rebooted the infamouse Proliant
2500 with SMART2/p raid card and RH 6.1.
I say rebooted but in fact it comes up with "non-system disk"
try again. Putting the floppy disk for that box in the floppy disk drive
will get it working fine it just will not boot from the hard disk.
so, the raid device is listed as /dev/ida0
configured as a raid5 setup that is 4 physical 4Gb disks showing
up as 2 logical disks.
Using LINUX to look at each drive I get :
ida/c0d0: blksz=512 nr_blks=16434495
ida/c0d1: blksz=512 nr_blks= 8720160
using LINUX fdisk for
ida/c0do: ida/c0d0p1, ida/c0d0p2 < ida/c0d0p5 through to
ida/c0d0p9
thislast message by the way is as printed to screen including the <
sign.
In lilo.conf I tried leaving out the P1 on the first disk to see if it
would default to MBR no luck, tried putting it back no luck there
either.
From within LINUX tried DOS fdisk /mbr got the message could
not open mbr, (I did this to try clearing the mbr to copy it back from
the boot.0x00 file). I tried booting into DOS via a dos boot floppy
and using fdisk but because of the raid array it cannot find the fixed
disks.
Any ideas, comments (appart from is he thick or what <BG>)
ways of getting this infamouse box rolling.
